BlackBerry Launches Enhanced SIM-based Licensing Solution
for SmarTone Enterprise Customers in Hong Kong

Hong Kong – BlackBerry Limited ( NASDAQ:  BBRY;  TSX: BB ),  a global leader in mobile communications, today announced that SmarTone, a Hong Kong-based mobile telecommunications provider, is now offering its enterprise customers Enhanced SIM-Based Licensing (ESBL) by BlackBerry. With the new ESBL offering, SmarTone enterprise customers can get BES12, a cross-platform EMM solution by BlackBerry, integrated with their wireless monthly subscriber billing. The ESBL offering in conjunction with BES12 will support iOS, Android™, Windows Phone® and BlackBerry® 10.

The offering will enable SmarTone to resell to its enterprise customers licenses for BlackBerry EMM services as a bundled offer, along with airtime and a data plan. ESBL helps SmarTone fulfil on its commitment to providing the highest customer service standards, by enabling customers to receive a single, granular monthly bill, rather than separate invoices for devices, data and mobile software and services. SmarTone will also be able to identify a customer’s licensing status more easily using ESBL, all while providing a smoother process for paying for BlackBerry EMM services through the customer’s single monthly bill. SmarTone enterprise customers with BYOD policies will also have the opportunity to purchase Bring Your Own Licenses (BYOL) with ESBL.

“ESBL is designed to offer a more productive, secure and flexible business solution. This helps our carrier partners focus on building stronger relationships with their customers, since they can act as a one-stop shop for customers’ device, data plan, mobile software and service needs. We are delighted to be working with SmarTone to use ESBL as a means to deliver better service to its customers,” said Gallant Leon, Managing Director, North Asia, BlackBerry.

BES12 provides expanded EMM capabilities that can manage any mobile deployment model such as BYOD, COPE and COBO, and is built on BlackBerry’s trusted network.
